    Comprised of multiple small residential pockets between Danforth Ave and Kingston Rd — the Upper Beaches and East Danforth area is a sprawling neighbourhood in Toronto's east end. Home to a diverse population and offering a wide range of detached and semi detached homes, apartments, and very desirable Upper Beaches condos, this neighbourhood has a little something for everyone.

    With Danforth Road running through the north end of the neighbourhood, residents have many convenient options for shopping, nightlife, and dining. In East Danforth, there’s a vast selection of boutiques — fashion, technology, home improvement supplies, or meat and produce. Plus, there are a variety of service based businesses found here; salons, auto repair, financial services, and wellness centres.

    Residents in the Upper Beaches portion of the neighbourhood have no shortage of dining, shopping and nightlife options either — Main Street, Kingston Rd, and Gerrard are all host to restaurants, with a sprinkling of specialized boutiques on Kingston Rd. For more substantive shopping and dining, Queen Street is just south of the neighbourhood.

    Whether you’re keen on Upper Beaches condos or condos in East Danforth, this area is great for families; there’s an abundance of parks to the south on Danforth Road, with playgrounds, open fields, and natural scenery along Massey Creek. There’s East Toronto Sports Field for hockey, baseball, boxing, splash pads, and more.

    Condo Life in Upper Beaches | East Danforth

    For first time home buyers, the prices of detached houses in the Upper Beaches and East Danforth area might be too high; however, if you’re in the market for Toronto condos for sale, you’ve got options here. The one knock on these condos, is that amenities are often light, so you won’t get all the extras bells and whistles.

    There are over 20 buildings in the neighbourhood, ranging from affordable to expensive, and with a larger selection in the Upper Beaches portion of the neighbourhood. First time home buyers can get their foot in the door with a spacious suite at Upper Beaches Lofts — while there are certainly cheaper units in the GTA, 1 bedroom units here are roughly 700 square feet, and are generally competitive with prices found downtown.

    Buyers who want the best value — and don’t mind paying for it — can get a townhome at Upper Beaches Residences where all units are over 1800 square feet, and the price per square foot is well below the average in Toronto. Upper Beaches condos tend to be more attractive to empty nesters and more established buyers, while units in East Danforth are typically more appealing to young professionals.

The neighbourhood sits on a subway line and has several stations for residents to pick from — as well, there are bus routes on all major roads and some residential streets, and Danforth GO is in the area for GO Transit.

    What is truly shocking about this neighbourhood, is that car owners actually have a driver friendly area within the city limits — a short trip west on Danforth Road will have you on the Don Valley Parkway in minutes, making it easy to zip around the city.
