    About 21 Overlea BoulevardJockey Club

Before we get to the building — no, there are no horses on site, or even near the building, and you won’t really be part of a club… However, if you feel like dressing up like a jockey, who are we to judge?

So, without further ado, Jockey Club is 21 storey condo located at 21 Overlea Blvd. The building was completed in 1991 and has a traditional look, with an exterior that’s comprised of brown brick and large bay windows. The building provides relaxing amenities that the whole family will enjoy; fitness centre, recreation room, sauna, squash courts, security guard, and parking garage.

Nature lovers are sure to be pleased with this neighbourhood — Thorncliffe Park is a green filled area in East York, but one which still manages to offer lots in the way of urban convenience. As well, the Don Valley Parkway is only minutes away, allowing for quick commutes for drivers.

    The Suites

Everything’s bigger in Texa — errr, Jockey Club. There are 220 generously sized units in this building, ranging in size from 600 square feet for a 1 bedroom suite to 1155 for a 2 bedroom + den.

As is the case with any older building, units in Jockey Club could be dated and some are certainly in need of upgrades — which makes for a great investment opportunity. Interested buyers can expect hardwood floors, modern kitchens, large windows, and

    spacious bedrooms.

The price per square foot here is on the lower end, making Toronto condos for sale in this building a great choice for first time home buyers who are looking to break into the market. That’s not to say that everyone else should steer clear, because families, couples, and empty nesters will likely find a lot to love about this property.

    The Neighbourhood

As a condo owner at Jockey Club, you’ve got convenient shopping options just around the corner; sure, nobody will confuse this neighbourhood with Yorkville, but there are plenty of stores nearby. East York Town Centre is only minutes away, and is home to a decent selection of clothing and technology stores, and a quick trip north on Laird will take you to a large commercial space with big box stores like Best Buy, Winners, and Marshalls.

For dining out, Hakka Garden Chinese Restaurant and Wendy's are less than a 5 minute walk from your front door. There’s Shirin Mahal Bakery & Sweets for a treat, and restaurants in East York Town Centre such as Pizza Pizza, Chunky Chicken, and Tim Hortons. And if you need more, you’ll find Swiss Chalet, Pasha Restaurant, Faley Restaurant, and Bamiyan Kabob on Overlea Blvd.

Worried about nightlife? Well, you might be onto something… entertainment options are mostly family friendly. Leaside Park is nearby and has tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a playground, and swimming pool. There’s Sky Zone Trampoline Park, and Leaside Memorial Arena has curling lanes. Crothers Woods has walking trails, and you can get your Legolas on at E.T. Seton Park Archery Range.

If you absolutely need to know about nightlife — there are plenty of bars to the south on Danforth Ave like The Only Café for craft beer, Champions On The Danforth Inc to watch the leafs, Jays, and Raptors on a big screen, and Rails And Ales for a game of darts. Concert goers have the Danforth Music Hall for up and coming acts, or Eton House for local talent.

    Transportation

21 Overlea Blvd has a 72 Walk Score — residents can accomplish most of their errands without a vehicle or public transit; grocery runs are especially easy, as there’s a Food Basics just a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Public transit riders have multiple bus routes on Overlea Blvd and Thorncliffe Park Dr, and if you need go to downtown Toronto, route 81 will take you to Pape Station for subway lines.

Jockey Club is absolutely a commuter friendly building for drivers; you can reach the nearest highway by heading east on Overlea to Don Mills, and then south for the Don Valley Parkway on-ramp.
