980 Yonge St, Toronto
About this condo
Overlooking the lush green landscapes throughout the prestigious Yorkville and Rosedale neighbourhoods, the Ramsden Condos stands proudly at the corner of Yonge and Belmont Street. The building itself, located at at 980 Yonge Street, welcomes residents and tempts prospective buyers with its perfect balance of understated elegance.
Completed in 1997 by Vanbots Developments, the Ramsden Condos is a 10-storey postmodern marvel. Combining modern features like gleaming glass walls and precisely defined, deep-set outdoor alcoves, with traditional details such as an ornamental rooftop gable and a charming awning adorning the entrance, 980 Yonge’s aesthetic is both fantastic and familiar.
Moreover, the array of retail businesses situated in the building’s podium integrates well into the vibrant scene in Yorkville. Inside, a sophisticated, marble-floored lobby is where residents can find the 24-hour concierge service. And better yet, residents also have access to a fully-equipped exercise room, a party room, and a common terrace with a garden and barbecues on the podium’s rooftop.
Finally, situated at the northern edge of the Downtown Core, the building contains an ample amount of parking. Many of these underground spots are owned by residents themselves, yet still there are more than enough spaces to accommodate their visitors.
The Ramsden Condos is home to a vibrant community of residents spread out throughout its 137 Toronto condos within. Ranging in size from approximately 700 to 1,400 square feet, these homes boast of one and two-bedroom floor plans, some of which feature dens as well. Additionally, most of these living spaces extend outside onto private balconies, offering their owners captivating views of the city below.
Inside 980 Yonge, the suites are carefully arranged: rooms flow seamlessly into one another, complemented by high ceilings that reach to 9 or 10 feet. The layouts of these homes also results in an abundance of natural light that enters through the generously sized windows.
Finally, while many of 980 Yonge’s suites have been customized over the years, many of the original, more traditional fixtures and finishes remain — depending on the suite. All sorts of buyers can find Yorkville condos for sale they are looking for here, thanks to the diversity in not only size, but also style and character.
At the corner opposite the building sits the quaint and cozy Budd Sugarman Park, the nearest section of a vast network of green spaces that can be found around the Rosedale neighbourhood. Although the condos at 980 Yonge are formally part of Yorkville, their residents enjoy Rosedale’s trails and lush greenery as often as they please — allowing for a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
When residents of the Ramsden Condos want to do some designer shopping or dine out in style, there are many options right on their street, plus many more around the corner on Yorkville Avenue or Cumberland Street. More casual dining options can be found by heading south down Yonge, just past Bloor, which takes about 10 miuntes to reach by foot.
Another reason residents living in the Ramsden may claim the Rosedale neighbourhood as their own is that the Budd Sugarman Park around the corner sits beside Rosedale Station, on the Yonge-University-Spadina line. Although Bloor-Yonge Station (which services both the north-southing running Yonge-University-Spadina and east-west Bloor-Danforth lines) sits down the street from the building as well, hopping on a train at Rosedale is the best bet for scoring a seat, as this station is much less busy.
Last but not least, 980 Yonge is a much sought-after location for those who commute by car. Belmont provides the best nearby access point for the Don Valley Parkway — often taking around five minutes to reach from the Ramsden Condos. Alternatively, Avenue Road and Mount Pleasant are great options for avoiding traffic jams on Yonge.
