About 1 Bastedo Avenue — Williamson Garden Townhomes
The Williamson Garden Townhomes, developed by the United Home Building Corporation, is an attractive set of residences that particularly caters to the many families attracted to Toronto’s friendly east end. Situated at 1 Bastedo Avenue, they’re nestled beside the lush landscapes the Williamson Ravine, on the south end of a quaint, tree-lined cul-de-sac that branches off of Danforth Avenue.
Completed in 2000, the Williamson Garden Townhomes stands at 3 storeys tall. Now tucked in behind some maturing trees and carefully cultivated gardens, 1 Bastedo was designed to appear timeless and traditional. Clad in richly textured, bright bricks, every townhome has a private entrance of its own, accessed via a cozy front porch no less.
As traditional as they are, these homes feature some unexpectedly striking architecture and boast plenty of magnificent triple-wide window bays and grand dormer windows.
Finally, like many smaller townhome-style condominium developments, 1 Bastedo doesn’t have too much extra room for amenities. Rather, the United Home Building Corporation focused on expertly executing the individual homes themselves.
The Suites
Home to an intimate community of residents, the Williamson Garden Townhomes consist of just 16 suites. Toronto condos for sale in this building feature two or three bedrooms each, and range in size from around 1,500 to 1,600 square feet. Additionally, each unit spans multiple storeys, and many of these living spaces extend out onto a private rooftop terrace, where residents can barbecue as they so please. Some homes even boast access to a small backyard, with decks equipped with gas lines as well.
Since its developer specializes in small builds, the suites are immaculately constructed. Even basements feel bright and welcoming, and the homes feature hardwood flooring throughout their communal living spaces.
Finally, the interior design emanates a refined, classical elegance. And last but not least, these suites feel especially bright and airy thanks to the large windows that let an abundance of natural light flow into the living spaces.
The Neighbourhood
Upper Beaches & East Danforth neighbourhood is a serene retreat from bustling city life: the side streets surrounding 1 Bastedo consist almost exclusively of private residence. Additionally, the Merrill Bridge Road Park is around the corner to the east, as well as Earl Haig Jr. Public School to the west.
Across Coxwell Avenue the vast grassy fields of Monarch Park are perfect for outdoorsy residents. Containing an ice skating rink, a playground, and a large outdoor pool — with a water slide no less — Monarch Park is on Felstead Avenue, meaning it’s about a ten-minute walk away
Nonetheless, when residents need to run some errands, a well-established commercial scene is ready and waiting along Danforth Avenue at the north end of Bastedo. The commercial area in East Danforth caters to the diverse community living in the east end, offering everything from imported goods to simple staples at inexpensive price-points.
Transportation
While their cozy side street might feel far removed from the city, residents are still located close to Coxwell Station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line. Coxwell takes only around ten minutes to reach by foot from the Williamson Garden Townhomes, so residents can venture throughout the city easily even if they don’t drive.
As for residents who do drive, living here has its perks too. When heading downtown, drivers can take the Danforth, or they can head down Coxwell to Lakeshore Boulevard East. The latter moves at a bit of a faster pace and also connects to both the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway.
Alternatively, drivers can also take Coxwell north up to O’Connor Drive. Once on O’Connor, Don Mills Road is just a few blocks west — the closest access point to the Don Valley Parkway from 1 Bastedo, Don Mills takes less than ten minutes to reach.
