    About 123 Strathcona AvenueStrathcona Mews

In the friendly east end of Toronto, the collection of Toronto condos for sale at 123 Strathcona attracts many prospective homeowners — and those raising their families in particular. The Strathcona Mews Condos happens to be surrounded by schools, a park, and a community centre. More importantly (for some), the residences themselves are charming in their own right and are situated in the desirable North Riverdale & Blake-Jones neighbourhood.

Originally built in 1974 and inhabited by renters, the building was developed into co-operative housing in 1981 before 123 Strathcona was finally converted into condominiums in 2003 by a group of their residents, incorporated as Strathcona Mews Limited. After carefully consulting with the community-at-large, 123 Strathcona’s rebirth as the Strathcona Mews Condos was designated after receiving strong support.

Well-preserved thanks to its days as a co-op, little work was needed for the conversion. The most remarkable update given to the two-storey structure was a coat of paint: resulting in its current cool grey exterior. What’s more, the colour contrasts well with the thriving greenery and tall, mature trees found on the building’s grounds.

The landscaped grounds welcome residents with more warmth than would be possible with a sleek lobby. This amiable continues on the spacious courtyard terrace. Aside from its lush gardens, these terraces are also equipped with barbecues and feature inviting spaces to sit and eat.

    The Suites

The Strathcona Mews Condos happen to make great homes for small families, although the building does contain studios and one bedroom suites as well. However, the majority of the 30 Toronto condos within are two bedroom homes that reach to around 1,000 square feet in size. Spanning multiple stories, some of 123 Strathcona’s basements have even been converted into third bedrooms.

Although residents will likely enjoy the liveliness of their common terrace, some suites also feature private patios or backyards. And all of the suites are accessed through their own separate entrances, from either the courtyard or an outdoor hallway.

Inside, the longstanding Strathcona Mews Condos showcase a range of customizations. Considering how the residents themselves fought for the site’s conversion into condos, prospective buyers can be sure that lots of care and consideration went into any prior renovations. While each unit is unique in terms of style, those interested in the building can expect to see a mix of sophisticated, modern, and traditional finishes.

    The Neighbourhood

Parents can relax on the common terrace while keeping an eye on much of the park’s playground across the street, which is an idyllic place for children to run around and play. These condos also sit around the corner from the beloved Greektown neighbourhood: the intersection at the heart of it all, Pape and Danforth, is less than a ten-minute walk away.

Known for delicious, reasonably priced restaurants, the highlight of Greektown is, unsurprisingly, Greek food. While the numerous restaurants in the area are enticing, a variety of independent markets can also be found along the Danforth, where home cooks can find everything they could possibly need.

    Transportation

At the nearby intersection of Pape and Danforth, ten minutes away from 123 Strathcona by foot, sits the closest TTC subway station. Pape Station runs along the east-west running Bloor-Danforth line, with connections to the Yonge Line available at Bloor-Yonge station. Alternatively, buses run along Jones Avenue and Pape Street at the east and west ends of the Strathcona’s block — convenient for those travelling throughout the east end.

Residents who prefer to drive are well situated; Jones Avenue intersects with many major roads to the south, including major arterial roads like Queen and Gerrard.

Drivers also have plenty of options for reaching the highway: those heading north can take Pape up to O’Connor in order to access the Don Valley Parkway; residents traveling west through the downtown core, on the other hand, can drive south down Carlaw in order to reach Lakeshore Boulevard East. The latter route lands drivers close to an on-ramp for both the Gardiner Expressway and the DVP.
