    About 50 Lombard StreetThe Indigo

The Indigo condos are a testament to smart design choices. Though they have stood at 50 Lombard Street since 1993, the Indigo remains contemporary through more than just its design — its green energy-saving engineering features will never go out of style.

Developed by Mollenhauer Construction with architecture by Peter Clewes at architectsAlliance, the Indigo condo stands at 26-storeys. Clewes cleverly arranged playful articulations that add levity to the building’s concrete exterior. This playfulness continues with the condo's vibrant windows. Perhaps lending to 50 Lombard’s namesake, its windows are tinted spectacular shades of blue that shimmer even on the cloudiest day.

It’s hard not to appreciate the Indigo’s exterior, though residents may find a design choice within the building may be even more inviting: There are at most only five suites per floor. This means the Indigo enjoy both an intimate sense of community and a blissfully quiet ambience deep in the Core of the city.

Many amenities support the community atmosphere of 50 Lombard well. There are exercise facilities, a sauna, a party room, study space, media centre, billiards room, guest suites, concierge service and a rooftop patio showcasing the Indigo’s surrounding cityscape. Residents will also adore the Indigo’s speedy elevator system, and its backup generator, ensuring that it never misses a beat.

    The Suites

Since there are no more than five per floor, there are only 104 suites in the Indigo and its residents feel especially proud to be here. The condos’ common areas kept up to date throughout the years display the care for the community has for the building. Expect nothing different of the Toronto condos for sale at 50 Lombard — these are wonderful, welcoming homes.

Ranging from 540 to almost 1400 square feet, the suites make smart use of their space with sensible layouts. Starting at studios and going up to two-bedrooms plus den, the living spaces here feel bright and fresh, as many feature solariums and all enjoy large windows, bringing in tremendous light and giving great views.

    The Neighbourhood

Lombard Street is a quiet, residential oasis, but that does not mean residents are far from vibrant city life or excitement of the St. Lawrence neighbourhood. Closeby, cultural and entertainment venues like the Historic Massey Hall and Elgin and Winter Garden Theatres offer options for some special nights out, while inexpensive movies playing at the Rainbow Cinemas always make for a good time.

The variety of shopping in the area is top notch. The Eaton Centre is conveniently around the corner, though for unique items, on Sundays the St. Lawrence Market features vendors selling antiques and collectibles. These special collections attract some of the most stylish in the city.

Eating options surround 50 Lombard Street. Whether residents explore the eclectic offerings on Church or turn down Spice Mill Lane to the upscale restaurants surrounding Courthouse Square, they will not be disappointed.

For groceries, the Indigo’s residents may be attracted to the gourmet selection in the Food Hall by Pusateri’s at Saks on Queen, or the convenience of Metro in Market Square, but the St. Lawrence Market has been serving the city for over 200 years for good reason. The vendors there care about their products and their clients. They will make residents of the Indigo condos feel like they are part of an everlasting community.

    Transportation

Residents of the Indigo condos have no difficulty getting around the city from 50 Lombard. Their neighbourhood is delightfully walkable, and they sit between Adelaide and Richmond, two major downtown arteries. Adelaide’s traffic runs east and Richmond goes west. Both move quickly for drivers while still sheltering bikers on a pristine path. For travelling north and south, cyclists enjoy the raised path on Sherbourne, while drivers have a plethora of options like Church or Jarvis.

For driver’s travelling further out of downtown Toronto, or to surrounding suburbs, a quick drive down Jarvis meets the Gardiner Expressway where a connection to the Don Valley can be made quite easily.

TTC travellers sit in an enviable part of the network. Streetcar options abound on Queen and King streets, and both operate all night. The nearest subway station, Queen, is less than a five-minute walk and travels north and south on the Yonge-University-Spadina line. Using the subway, residents can get to Union Station in a quick three minutes.
