About 99 Chandos AvenueIron Works Lofts

Nestled below a long network of parks, the Iron Works Lofts at 99 Chandos Avenue continuously entices prospective buyers with its tight-knit community. An influx of locals living in the Corso Italia & Davenport neighbourhood lead to the conversion of this small industrial building into stylish boutique lofts, and as a result, prospective residents can rest assured that the neighbourhood will welcome future homeowners with open arms.

Originally built in 1970, 99 Chandos’ conversion was ultimately completed by Firm Capital Properties in 2010. This came after carefully building an extension, constructing modern interior living spaces, and installing chic sets of expansive new windows.

The final product looks splendid, meaning those living in Iron Works Lofts — the people and with their pets who reside in this friendly area – do so with pride. In fact, the condos’ residents led a project that involved painting 99 Chandos’ name in a stately grey palette, which aptly reflected the title of the Iron Works Lofts.

Lastly, seeing as an exclusive few call this building home, there isn’t an extensive (or expensive) array of amenities in the building. The community still enjoys some social space, though: residents can gather on the common rooftop deck that overlooks the neighbourhood’s charming streets and mature trees.

    The Suites

The conversion of 99 Chandos resulted in the creation of 15 Toronto lofts, 8 of which are two bedroom units. As for the rest, 6 contain one bedroom, and the last is a studio suite. Their sizes span approximately 850 to 1,600 square feet and feature ceilings heights that reach to over 10 feet. Regardless of their specific size, the open-concept floor plans feel expansive, especially with a few of the suites’ living spaces extending out onto private rooftop terraces.

Along with their bright and fresh atmospheres, the style of these suites remains true to the loft aesthetic. Some feature massive window walls, while all suites are bathed in natural light that gleams off wood floors and illuminates the fascinating exposed ductwork found throughout the property.

Lastly, during the developer’s thorough modernization a fair bit of the building’s brickwork and metal beams were carefully preserved. These rustic accents elegantly frame the particularly spacious living rooms — a feature not found in most Toronto condos for sale — making them the perfect place to entertain (and impress) friends and family.

    The Neighbourhood

The charming Chandos Avenue is tucked into a family friendly neighbourhood northwest of the intersection of Dufferin Street and Dupont Street. Strolling a short way east leads to an abundance of green space: a network of parks stretches from 99 Chandos almost to Dovercourt.

Those living in the Iron Works Lofts can take this tree-lined route in order to reach the emerging food scene that now exists on Geary Avenue. Many passionate cooks have been attracted to the vibrancy of this neighbourhood, meaning that where the network of parks ends at Bartlett Avenue North, a diverse array of local cafés, restaurants, bakeries, and breweries can be found.

Dupont, the next street south of Geary, is lined with independent galleries showcasing some stunning works of art. Although no matter how residents feel about art, they will find themselves on Dupont often: residents can run errands at the Galleria Shopping Centre, where they can find a FreshCo, LCBO, many major banks, and even a Pet Value. This mall conveniently located about a ten-minute walk from the lofts, on Dupont west of Dufferin.

    Transportation

For those living at 99 Chandos, getting around the city is easy. Living outside of downtown Toronto means the traffic moves well in one’s neighbourhood. Accessing highways can often take just about fifteen minutes – and that’s right, multiple highways are within close reach: a drive north on Dufferin leads directly to the 401, or drivers can take Lansdowne Avenue, the major street just west of the Iron Works Lofts, south to Jameson Avenue from which they can access the Gardiner Expressway.

Those without cars are still in luck, since there’s a stop for the 87 Dufferin Bus at the end of Chandos Avenue. This bus travels between Wilson Station and the Exhibition Grounds, making stops in neighbourhoods like the eclectic Little Portugal and the chic Queen West on its way.

Furthermore, the 87 bus takes riders to Dufferin Station on the Bloor-Danforth line rather quickly. There, they can transfer onto the subway in order to get to destinations around the city in no time.
