Buying a home in Leaside | Thorncliffe

Stop us if you’ve heard this story before — what is now a very popular GTA neighbourhood began as a town. Like all small towns that dared to stand in the path of Toronto’s ever increasing footprint, Leaside and Thorncliffe Park were inevitably swallowed up by Toronto.

While there’s plenty of notable history here, what’s likely most relevant now is that Leaside and Thorncliffe is one of the more desirable neighbourhoods in the GTA for middle income families. With great schools, ample green spaces, commercial strips and big box stores, it’s no wonder that families see this area as a great place to grow.

The Bayview strip between Eglinton Ave W and Millwood Rd is popular with both residents and day-trippers from neighbouring areas, hosting a number of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and boutiques. Large commercial centres can be found in Thorncliffe portion of the neighbourhood — the eastern section — and a smattering of Leaside condos are evenly distributed near major roadways, and also close to Thorncliffe and Leaside Park.

Condo Life in Leaside | Thorncliffe

If you’re not a fan of pricey, towering high-rises — Leaside condos and those in Thorncliffe Park make for the perfect family homes. The neighbourhood offers a nice mix of modern and traditional buildings; properties like Scenic on Eglinton III come with desirable finishes and sleek style, and can certainly rival modern buildings throughout the GTA.

Those who are seeking condos in Leaside and Thorncliffe and are on a tight budget, can get a great deal in older buildings like the 10 storey Leaside Park, which has generous suite sizes and competitive amenities.

    Transportation

Regardless of which portion of the neighbourhood residents call home, Leaside and Thorncliffe condos are great for drivers — traffic moves well on Bayview, and for longer trips, it’s easy to connect to the Don Valley Parkway via Bayview or Eglinton Ave E.

Those who rely on public transit have a number of bus routes in the area, with several routes offering service to Eglinton Station for subway lines.
