Buying a home in The Kingsway

Sometimes neighbourhoods are branded with awkward titles that seem as though they could have been attached to any community, and other times, they’re right on the money; The Kingsway sounds regal, and if you call this neighbourhood home, you might even a feel a little bit regal as well.

With stately homes that look as though they could’ve been pulled from the pages of a Victorian era novel, The Kingsway offers a picturesque retreat from the busy city for those who are fortunate enough — affluent might be a better word — to have settled in the area.

When touring the neighbourhood, you’ll find towering trees that cast shadows on narrow streets, and a blend of mansions and large 2-storey homes, sitting on large lots. Kingsway condos are just as luxurious; units in this neighbourhood have high-end finishes and generous floor plans, and the prices of Toronto condos for sale here reflect these luxuries.

With Dundas and Bloor as the north and south boundaries, residents have a great selection of restaurants for everything from upscale cuisine like ViBo Restaurant, to Domino’s Pizza for days when the couch is just too inviting. There are many service based businesses in the area — chiropractors, salons, and financial services — plus a smattering of activity centres for music lessons or recreation.

Nature lovers have plenty of options to keep them busy — there are parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, and the Humber River runs along the eastern boundary of the neighbourhood for riverside strolls and picnics.

A warning to first time homebuyers — reading further could lead to heartbreak. Within this neighbourhood you’ll find the most expensive buildings in Etobicoke, and prices that are on par with exclusive neighbourhoods in downtown Toronto; you’ll find plenty of Kingsway condos that are in excess of 7 figures, such as units at Old Mill Terrace Residences.

Kingsway condos often come with generous amenities — including pools that you’d expect to find in a hotel, and full fitness centres that rival standalone gyms. All buildings are situated on either Dundas or Bloor, placing residents within walking distance of local businesses and restaurants.

    Transportation

The Kingsway has 68 Walk Score, allowing for residents to run some errands on foot — this is especially true for Kingsway condos. There are great transit options in the area, with bus routes on all major roads and 2 subway stations in the neighbourhood; Royal York and Old Mill Station make it easy for residents to get downtown without suffering through traffic.

Drivers can go west on Bloor for Highway 427, and south on Kingsway S for the Gardiner Expressway, but with subway stations in the neighbourhood, it may be easier to leave the car at home.
