    Buying a home in Ionview

Tucked away on the westside of Scarborough, Ionview is a quiet residential neighbourhood, home to families of all sizes. The vast majority of residents are working age adults or young children, adding to the family friendly feel of the area.

On cozy residential streets you’ll find rows of bungalows and world war II homes. Many residents in this neighbourhood live in mid-rise and low-rise apartments, and there are some Toronto townhouses, semi-detached houses, and Ionview condos as well.

Eglinton Ave E serves as main street and is host to an assortment of dining options for many different international tastes — extensive enough to make you think you’ve stumbled into the United Nations; Italian, Indian, Chinese, Greek, Turkish, Caribbean, Japanese, and more. Boutiques line Eglinton to the east and west, with stores for fashion, furniture, and technology. There are also salons, cafes, financial institutions, and grocery stores.

Ionview Public School sits in the middle of the neighbourhood, and several schools and daycares reside just beyond Ionview’s boundaries. One of the more appealing aspects of this neighbourhood is the availability of nature — there are several parks in the area and the Scarborough Hydro Green Space extends along the eastern border, with Massey Creek and Eglinton Ravine Park to the south.

    Condo Life in Ionview

If you’ve been looking for an affordable condo, then you’re in luck — because they don’t get more affordable than this. There are Ionview condos which have sold for less than 300K in recent years, and it’s quite possible to find 3 bedroom condo here, for the price of a 1 bedroom in downtown Toronto. There are a variety mid-rise condos in area — 855 Kennedy Road Condos is one of the notable buildings — and townhome style complexes as well, so buyers do have some choice.

One potential downside for Ionview condos are that amenities are modest — which could be seen as a plus for budget-minded buyers who are concerned about maintenance fees. All buildings are located on Kennedy or Eglinton, placing residents on transit routes and providing dining options within walking distance.

    Transportation

With a Walk Score of 70 — residents of this neighbourhood can easily run errands on foot, especially those living in a condo near major roads. Ionview has great public transit; there are north and southbound buses on Birchmount and Kennedy, east and westbound buses on Eglinton, and Kennedy Subway Station and Kennedy GO Station are just south of the neighbourhood.

Ionview condos provide car owners with a great starting point for their morning commutes — driving west on Eglinton will connect you to the Don Valley Parkway, and a trip north on Kennedy will have you on the 401.
