Buying a home in Caledonia - Fairbank

A sleepy neighbourhood in the York Crosstown area, Caledonia – Fairbank is ideal for people who are looking to slow their role and relax in a quiet community with an old world feel. Caledonia – Fairbank’s claim to fame is Prospect Cemetery which extends for the entirety of the neighbourhood from north to south — a great place to walk, if you can overlook all of the tombstones.

On winding residential streets you’ll find boxy brick and stucco detached houses — and a colourful assortment of flags due to the heavy immigrant population in the region. Lots are reasonable sizes, and those who back on to the cemetery have large backyards.

Caledonia – Fairbank condos are perfect for families; there are schools in the neighbourhood at the primary level and more in the surrounding area. Parents with small children have many recreational activities to wear the young ones out — there’s Fairbank Memorial Swimming Pool on Dufferin, nearby playgrounds, soccer pitches, and basketball courts.

Eglinton Avenue W serves as main street for the neighbourhood and is host to small selection of restaurants, pubs, businesses, and boutiques; there’s actually a nice variety here for shoppers, ranging from fashion to furniture and electronics.
