About 1185 The Queensway — IQ Condos
You don’t have to be a genius to be able to appreciate the IQ Condos at 1185 the Queensway. Constructed in 2015 by Remington Group, the building consists of two mid-rise towers connected by a shared podium.
In addition to the 123 Toronto condos found at 1185 the Queensway, residents living in the building also have access to a generous lineup of amenities. Common spaces suited to active types include a gym with yoga studio and sauna, and an indoor pool and hot tub.
Those more interested in playing the role of host can invite friends and family to spend time on the rooftop terrace, which is outfitted with barbecues and a fireplace, or the party room, which boasts a wet bar and caterer’s kitchen. Guests need not worry about parking, as there are plenty of visitor spots, and those who have traveled a long way can always stay overnight in one of the two guest suites. And in case the aforementioned features aren’t enough, the IQ Condos also boasts a games room, a pet spa, and a 24-hour concierge.
The Suites
The creators of the IQ Condos must have been inspired by nearby green spaces like Humber Bay Park and High Park. Each unit is named for one famous park or another, such as Stanley Park in Vancouver, Prospect Park in Brooklyn, and Griffith Park in Los Angeles.
Prospective residents aren’t encouraged to choose a suite based on their favourite city. Those interested in the building do have plenty of options, though: 1185 the Queensway contains everything from studio homes to three bedroom units, which range from approximately 480 to 920 square feet.
Remington Group kept the environment in mind when making choices for the IQ Condos. Floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows, for example, were created using energy-efficient glass; carpeting in bedrooms is CRI Green Label Certified; and the stainless steel appliances that grace the kitchens at 1185 the Queensway are Energy Star.
Speaking of kitchens, granite countertops may not do much to help the planet, but they sure do look great. Prospective residents can also expect to find engineered hardwood flooring at 1185 the Queensway, as well as 9-foot ceilings on floors 2 through 11, and 10-foot ceilings on 1 and 12.
The Neighbourhood
Living right on the Queensway is extremely convenient, especially for those heading out to shop or grab a bit to eat. It doesn’t hurt, either, that 1185 the Queensway is situated directly in between a Costco and an IKEA. Also within close reach is the Cineplex Cinemas Queensway & VIP, and Sherway Gardens, an impressively large shopping centre.
Islington & City Centre West is a popular choice for those looking for an alternative to downtown Toronto. This neighbourhood happens to be one of the GTA’s five central business districts, and as a result it’s been growing and growing in recent years, with no signs of slowing.
Transportation
It only makes sense that a central business district be accessible as possible. Residents living at 1185 the Queensway have plenty of options for getting around — car or no car. For those who would rather not drive, living so close to Islington Station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line comes in handy. This station takes about 20 minutes to reach via the 110 Islington bus, and from there passengers can ride east toward the city centre in no time.
Those who drive, on the other hand, can also reach their destinations in a hurry. A trip over to Union Station may take as little as 15 minutes (when traffic cooperates) via the Gardiner Expressway. The Gardiner can also be used to reach the 427, a major north-south highway that offers access to the 401 and Pearson International Airport.
