About 194 Merton Street — Le Corbu
In the popular Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, the boutique condos at 194 Merton Street should be on the radar of any prospective buyer, but more so those who are attracted to hard lofts in particular. Named Le Corbu Condos, perhaps after the preeminent architect and urban planner Le Corbusier, this chic, luxury building is home to an intimate community of content residents.
Converted from an office building in 2003, 194 Merton’s art-deco inspired architecture features a striking window wall that encompasses almost all of its street-facing façade.
Moreover, beyond the building’s elegantly rounded exterior corners, the Le Corbu Condos features a plethora of large windows. This results in a bright atmosphere resonating throughout the building: natural light gleams off of the sophisticated granite-tiled lobby and throughout its upper-level common areas.
Atop the 5-storey structure at 194 Merton, its residents can enjoy spending time on the inviting common rooftop terrace, containing a garden and a barbecue area. Additionally, these residences boast a rather distinctive amenity: connected to this outdoor terrace is the Le Corbu Condos’ fitness facilities, which includes an exclusive squash court.
The Suites
A true boutique building, there are only 34 Toronto condos spread throughout 194 Merton. Their sizes span from around 700 to 1,400 square feet, with most in the 1000-1,200 square foot range. This includes one bedroom, one bathroom suites as well as those containing two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus even some two bedroom plus den suites with two bathrooms.
Regardless of whichever suite best serves a prospective buyer’s needs, Toronto condos for sale at the Le Corbu Condos are quite comfortable and welcoming. Thanks to their large windows, an abundance of natural light flows well throughout 194 Merton’s suites, especially considering their open concept living areas, whose ceilings are soar up to 10 feet high.
Moreover, this bright natural light makes the suites’ engineered hardwood floors shine; the kitchens’ updated, stainless-steel appliances receive the same sunlit treatment, no doubt. And complementing the bright atmosphere, some of these suites feature a cozy fireplace and charming sliding barn doors as well.
The Neighbourhood
Similar to 194 Merton’s suites, the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood is known for being warm and friendly. Plus, getting to know one’s neighbours is easy for those living in Le Corbu Condos: steps north of the building, residents can gather at Toronto Tennis City, with its rare red Italian clay courts; and just south of the condo, neighbours can meet up and walk through the lush landscapes of the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail. Yet another place to spend the day outside is in grassy fields of June Rowlands Park — which contains a set of tennis courts, as well as other sports facilities — located between Davisville Avenue and Millwood Road.
After a rousing match of tennis or stroll on the Beltline, residents will likely be in need of a filling meal, which can be found at any of the local eateries in their neighbourhood. Residents can find an array of restaurants on the first major street east of the condos, Mount Pleasant Road.
Transportation
For those who prefer public transit, Davisville Station, on Yonge Street at Chaplin Crescent, is less than a ten-minute walk from 194 Merton. From here, travelers can catch trains heading north or south along Yonge in order to reach uptown Toronto or the downtown core in no time. Alternatively, when it’s snowing, raining, or when one is simply not in the mood to walk, those living in the building can also hop onto the 74 Bus. This bus happens to stop at Merton and Mount Pleasant , which cuts the walk to Yonge Street in half. Alternatively, taking the 74 southbound carries riders toward St. Clair. Station on the the Yonge-University Spadina line — the same line as Davisville, but one station to the south.
Similarly, drivers have many choices when it comes to getting around the city. A myriad of fast-paced roadways can be found in midtown Toronto, and drivers can use a good number of them in order to access a highway: driving North on Yonge leads to the 401; heading south on Bayview Avenue leads to the Don Valley Parkway; and drivers can also head west on Eglinton Avenue to merge onto the Allen Expressway – all of which are around ten minutes away from Le Corbu Condos.
