About 2012 Queen Street E — Green House Lofts
In the east end’s eclectic Beaches neighbourhood, and sitting across the lush natural landscapes of the Beaches Park, Bordieri Joseph aptly named the mixed-use complex at 2012 Queen Street the Green House Lofts. While there aren’t so many homes to go around, the few living spaces in the building offer a chance for some fortuitous homeowners to live in style–in one of the most gorgeous parts of the city.
Completed in 2005, 2012 Queen East stands at 3 storeys high, with the ground level containing a number of well-established businesses. Thanks to the architecture’s sturdy stonework accents, which frame the entrance’s alluring awning and wooden front doors, the Green House Lofts fit neatly in with the Beaches neighbourhood’s creative vibe.
Additionally, toward the top of the building the façade is definitely distinct. The structure features a series of tiers, carving out space for large private terraces on each floor. This all culminates in an angled rooftop adorned with grand skylight windows, which gives the interior spaces at the Green House Lofts a bright and airy atmosphere.
Indeed, considering the atmosphere brought forth by the building’s architecture, along with the charming scene in the Beaches, the developers behind decided to forgo including an array of amenities. Instead, residents attracted to the building tend to care more about the Toronto condos for sale and what’s available in the surrounding area, and less about having access to a treadmill. As an added bonus, the maintenance fees are much lower than the average of condos in the Beaches.
The Suites
Containing just 12 fairly standardized Toronto lofts, the Green House Lofts is home to an intimate community of residents. Plus, those who do score a chance to live here do so comfortably, in two-bedroom, two-bathroom floor homes that cover around 1,300 square feet and span 3 storeys each.
Complemented by the natural light flowing into the building, 2012 Queen East’s suites feature luxury fixtures and finishes designed to create a relaxed, contemporary aesthetic. The suites boast warm Maple hardwood floors, California-style breakfast bars, and state-of-the-art thermal and acoustic insulation. They also feature cozy gas fireplaces that ensure these homes are serene escapes for those living a hectic metropolitan lifestyle.
Moreover, every living space extends out onto a private terrace that’s got a gas line ready for a barbecue. And every one of the suites boast a two-storey indoor mezzanine, so rain or shine, winter or summer, their residents can enjoy views of the Kew Gardens across the street.
The Neighbourhood
Kew Gardens, just across the street from the 2012 Queen East, is enchanting even when just peering over from the comfort of one’s home. Of course, residents will likely be strolling through them quite often as well — not only is the garden open to the public but it happens to lead directly to the sandy shores of Balmy Beach.
Those living in the Green House Lofts can find the Beaches Public Library nearby as well, nestled into the northeast corner of the Kew Gardens. After picking up a book, one can head over to one of the many cafés along Queen East, or pick up coffee and a pastry from one of their local bakeries and head down to the boardwalk.
The opportunities for entertainment don’t disappear after the sun sets either: Queen East boasts a delectable array of delicious restaurants. Many of them are run by locals living in the neighbourhood, meaning a creative dining experience is always available nearby.
Transportation
The Green House Condos’ residents can venture beyond the Beaches and throughout the city easily, whether they have access to a car or not. Residents live just a few minutes from a stop at Waverly Road where they can catch the 501 Streetcar. The 501 travels east and west across much of the city, taking riders to the centre of downtown Toronto in about 20 minutes.
Alternatively, homeowners can also take the 64 bus, which stops at Hamby, a few blocks to the east. The quickest route to the subway from the Green House Condos, the 64 travels north from Queen East taking passengers through the Upper Beaches to Main Station where they can hop onto trains moving along the Bloor-Danforth line.
Last but not least, residents of the Green House Condos who prefer to drive may find themselves on Woodbine Avenue often. The first major road east of 2012 Queen East, Woodbine heads south to Lakeshore Boulevard, whose wide lanes are a great way to travel west toward the Downtown Core. From Lakeshore, an onramp to both the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway can also be reached in around ten minutes each.
