About 35 Raglan Avenue — Heathwood Manor
The Toronto condos at 35 Raglan Avenue in midtown’s Humewood & Cedarvale neighbourhood are enticing, especially to prospective residents who value a charming community over a chic complex. Converted in 2013 by Bloorwood Construction, the Heathwood Manor Condos was formerly an apartment, and then a co-op, which many proud residents enjoyed supporting.
Originally constructed in 1960 and reminiscent of a classic New-York Brownstone, this timeless, 4-storey building at 35 Raglan is remarkable for its understated detail, funnily enough. Elegant stone molding frames the plethora of windows that grace the building’s façade, with sculptural accents spread out along the first storey.
The design neatly comes together at the front entrance. Here, faux stone planters sit above the awning that covers the Heathwood Manor’s wooden doors, which sit between a well-groomed set of shrubs.
Indeed, the entrance to the building proves quite enchanting: when the community of residents comes home each day, they enter into a private that’s both sophisticated and cozy at the same time. And, although the Heathwood Manor Condos doesn’t boast a long list of amenities, its residents can enjoy locking their wheels up in the bicycle room, or socializing in the common garden, which also happens to be equipped with a natural gas barbecue.
The Suites
35 Raglan’s charming atmosphere continues inside, throughout each of the building’s 35 suites. Their floor plans span 800 to 1,000 square feet, and every one of these two and three bedroom homes are carefully designed with the comfort of their residents in mind.
Featuring modern fireplaces and polished rosewood floors, Heathwood Manor Condos’ suites boast a refined aesthetic. They’re also outfitted with many large windows which, when paired with open floor plans, allow natural light to flow between living, dining and eating spaces. Finally, although they’ve been around for over four decades, all Toronto condos for sale in this building have been well-maintained.
The Neighbourhood
At the south-east corner of the Humewood & Cedarvale neighbourhood, on the first street west of Bathurst and just steps north of St. Clair Avenue, residents of 35 Raglan can enjoy a thriving art scene in the Wychwood neighbourhood. The community-oriented Artscape Wychwood Barns are less than a ten-minute walk, where cultural events of all sorts are held year-round.
Sitting in the grassy fields of the park along Benson Avenue, Artscape Wychwood Barns is located in a designated heritage structure. While the site itself is enticing enough, the Artscape organization uses the barns to stage live performances, exhibit local artists, and even host a vibrant farmer’s market during the warmer months.
Moreover, many distinct markets and eateries can be found on St. Clair West. Catering to the diverse community of residents living in midtown Toronto, one can choose from any of St. Clair West’s international restaurants, or shop at stores that stocking imported products from around the world.
Transportation
As exciting as the immediate area is, those living in the Heathwood Manor Condos can easily venture into all areas of the city - even without a car. Residents can walk about five minutes in order to reach St. Clair West Station, which sits just east of 35 Raglan. Even better, the station is located underneath the nearby Loblaws, on St. Clair.
Alternatively, the 512 Streetcar runs along St. Clair West and proves useful for those traveling along this bustling road. While on its route between Yonge to the east and Gunn’s Loop in the other direction, past Keele, it carries riders to the Corso Italia neighbourhood a few blocks to the west.
Last but not least, residents who drive have many fast-paced roadways to choose from. Drivers will become quite familiar with Bathurst Street in particular, since its traffic moves quickly even as one moves south through downtown Toronto. Bathurst can be used to head all the way down to the Gardiner Expressway, which runs along the lakeshore. Conversely, drivers can also take Bathurst north in order to reach the 401.
