About 438 King Street WThe Hudson

Even with a housing market like Toronto’s, selling out quickly can still be a sign of a great building. The Hudson Condos certainly prove this point, with buyers snatching up these Toronto condos for sale as fast as they could back in 2006.

The fact that Great Gulf, an award winning developer, was behind the project, makes this fact even less surprising. They are also responsible for impressive buildings in Toronto like One Bloor, Monde, and Home.

The rather prominent building at 438 King Street West holds 281 units, which are spread out over 21 storeys. And with its location at the corner of King and Spadina in the King West neighbourhood, the Hudson Condos are sure to get noticed.

Within the yellow brick and glass façade, with copper details adorning the front entryway, residents enter into a lobby that looks as if it could double as a gallery. A collage of framed photographs of varying sizes adorns one wall, with plenty of lounge furniture creating an inviting atmosphere for homeowners and their guests.

Outside, things are just as lovely: a garden up on the rooftop is ready and waiting for residents to peruse, while landscaped walkways on the ground floor usher pedestrians around the building’s grounds.

And the second of the Hudson Condos is where Club Hudson can be found. Within this recreation space is a gym, sauna, cinema, party room, and dining area. Residents living at 438 King Street West also benefit from security, a 24-hour concierge, and visitor parking.

    The Suites

The homes found within 438 King Street West range considerably in order to meet the needs of various type of buyers. Sizes begin at around 500 square feet, with the smallest homes ready and waiting for first time buyers, single homeowners, or couples, to inhabit. Those in need of a little more legroom will prefer the larger homes in the building, which can reach to approximately 2,200 square feet.

One Bedroom units remain in the 500-600 square foot range, with one bedroom plus den exposures reaching to as large as 760 square feet. Moving up from here, two bedroom units can span up to 1,200 square feet, or slightly larger for those with terraces. And last but not least, the penthouses are, naturally, the largest of them all.

Regardless of size, all of the homes in the Hudson Condos boast floor-to-ceiling windows, and ceiling heights of up to 20 feet in some units (although 9 feet is more commonly found in the building). Hardwood flooring can also be found throughout the building, with porcelain, ceramic, or marble in kitchens and bathrooms, depending on the unit. If all of that isn’t enough, these homes are also outfitted with thermo-glazed aluminum windows, oversized bathtubs, and roomy balconies.

    The Neighbourhood

Views from the condos above — or better yet panoramas from the rooftop garden — provide residents with inspiration for what to do on any given day. Look north, and Kensington Market and Chinatown come into view; peer south, and Lake Ontario beckons.

Of course, the immediate area has much to offer as well. King West is best known for its posh businesses: boutiques, restaurants, clubs, and spas, just to name a few. Up on Queen West, residents can find an array of eclectic dining options, ready to satiate any craving the second it hits.

Entertainment is just a short walk away for those living at 438 King West. TIFF Bell Lightbox can be reached in only 4 minutes on foot, where movie buffs can take in an international or indie film. Those looking for live theatre need not look far either, thanks to the Princess of Wales and Royal Alexandra Theatres, both of which are just down the street from the Hudson Condos.

And those who prefer live music above all else will want to pick up seasons tickets to see the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, which plays out of Roy Thompson Hall — also on King Street.

    Transportation

With St. Andrew Station only a 10-minute walk from the Hudson Condos, residents who don’t have access to a vehicle of their own — or who prefer not to use one — can still get around the city with ease. From here, Union Station is just a stop away, where travelers can catch VIA Rail trains, GO buses and trains, and the UP service to Pearson International Airport.

Drivers can reach the Gardiner Expressway in mere minutes, allowing them to traverse the southern edge of the city quickly and painlessly. Riding east along this route will land one at the Don Valley Parkway, while those heading west can transfer onto the 427.
