About 60-64 Niagara Street — Sixty Loft
The Sixty Lofts are made up of not sixty, but two buildings, that makes up one swoon worthy residential complex. Between the one building at 60 Bathurst Street and the other at 60-64 Niagara, the Sixty Lofts consists of 140 Toronto lofts fit for some fortunate Torontonians.
The majority of homes — 110 in total — reside within the Bathurst Street building, while the remaining 30 can be found on Niagara. The construction can be attributed to a particularly experienced developer: Sorbara Group of Companies. The Sorbara Group has been involved in the construction industry since 1952 — that’s decades before any lofts in King West came into being.
Built in 2008, the Bathurst side of the Sixty Lofts embodies modern architecture perfectly, between the geometric shapes, splashes of colour, and loads and loads of glass. On Niagara, things change quite drastically, as traditional red brick is combined with a delicate amount of glass.
Prospective buyers can take their pick of King West condos for sale between the innovative mid-rise at 60 Bathurst Street and the understated, intimate residences on Niagara. While style points are awarded to the former, the latter comes equipped with backyard gardens for ground level homeowners, as well as multiple elevators that service only a few units each.
Reaching to 11 storeys at its highest, the Sixty Lofts building is outfitted with a number of amenities that make life easier for its residents. These include resident and visitor parking, a party room, and a common rooftop terrace with barbecues. Additionally, retail spaces along the ground floor allow residents to get shopping done without having to travel very far.
The Suites
Once inside the Sixty Lofts, the homes themselves are even more diverse than the two buildings themselves. Sizes begin at around 500 square feet and reach to approximately 1,700, and two styles are available: one bedroom or two.
Defining loft qualities can be found throughout both of the buildings, including high ceilings and open concept layouts, as well as sliding glass doors, exposed concrete, rectangular columns, and exposed ductwork, all of which make for that coveted industrial atmosphere. Certain units also boast paned windows that stretch from floor to ceiling, allowing the sun to do most of the lighting (in the daytime at least).
The penthouses at 60 Bathurst Street and 60-64 Niagara are also worth mentioning. These extraordinary homes feature two storeys, with industrial-style tread stairs leading the way to and from each level. Outdoor spaces — in the form of balconies and larger terraces — are plentiful as well.
The Neighbourhood
With the Sixty Lofts adopting such a pet-friendly attitude, all of the green space in the surrounding area is also advantageous for those taking advantage of this fact. Just around the corner is Stanley Park, with its off-leash dog zone, outdoor swimming pool, and tennis courts. Trinity Bellwoods Park is also not far off, where the “dog bowl” awaits residents and their furry friends.
Once the immediate vicinity has been explored, neighbouring areas will provide even more entertainment. Liberty Village, with its trendy boutiques and brunches, is one ideal way to spend a Saturday or Sunday. The lakeshore is yet another area rich with activities: one can spend hours walking or cycling the Martin Goodman Trail, visiting the Harbourfront Centre and the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, or attempting water sports such as paddle boarding or sailing.
Between the Sobeys Urban Fresh at Fort York and Spadina, and Fresh & Wild Food Market and the Kitchen Table on King West, residents will never have to travel far to stock up on necessities. For some more frivolous shopping, on the other hand, wandering up to Queen West will land one amongst shops galore — both local and global.
Transportation
Living in the centre of the city has its perks, and transportation is certainly one of them. From the Sixty Lofts, residents can catch streetcars along Bathurst or King Streets in order to reach the subway. Leaving the city altogether is simple as well, with Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport only 1.5 kilometres away. Otherwise, those who prefer to travel by train can reach Union Station via the King streetcar in about 20 minutes.
Drivers can quickly reach the Gardiner Expressway in order to ride along the southern edge of the city, or to connect with other highways like the 427 and the Don Valley Parkway. Using this route, even Pearson International Airport is less than 25 minutes away from the lofts at 60 Bathurst Street and 60-64 Niagara.
