About 1010 Portage PkwyThe Met Condos

The Condo boom in Vaughan has transformed entire areas of the city and is currently reshaping the skyline in the Metropolitan Centre area. The Met Condos is part of this growing community of high-rises, outfitted with modern finishes and extensive amenities, and designed to take advantage of the nearby subway station.

Standing 35 storeys tall on the corner of Jane and Portage, the Met Condos blends affordability, modern condo style, daily convenience, and easy commuter access. It’s a winning formula for many condos buyers and renters. The building was developed by Plaza, who’s past creations include the striking Ivory on Adelaide and Emerald Park Condos.

Prospective buyers who are moving to Vaughan from downtown condos will likely notice a change in pace and fewer neighbourhood amenities, but 7895 Jane St brings convenience on-site with an incredible amenity centre. Residents enjoy steam rooms, a spa with whirlpools, a fitness centre, yoga studios, private dining rooms, a lounge and bar, theatre rooms, a games rooms, a tech lounge, underground parking, and a 24 hour concierge service.

    The Suites

The Met Condos comprises 530 condo suites, and 62 town houses. Suites come in a variety of layouts, ranging from 506 square feet for one bedroom unit to 1299 for a 3 bedroom + den. The townhouses are located outside of the tower, clad in brick and stone, and divided by charming courtyards. Finishes are similar to condo units, but the units feature additional floor space and enhanced privacy.

Condo units at 7895 Jane St have efficient layouts and large window walls that keep homes bright and warm with sunlight. Kitchens are open to the living space and large by condo standards, featuring Quartz countertops, premium stainless steel appliances, and undermount sinks. Bathrooms have porcelain or ceramic tile flooring, and deep soaker tubs.

Oversized balconies offer great views of the surrounding area and run the entire length of a unit. Bedrooms are also larger than what’s found in many modern condos around the GTA, and most bedrooms have balcony access. Condo storage can often be an issue but in this case the units offer more than what you’d typically find — sensing a theme?

For buyers or renters who want more space than offered elsewhere in a laid back setting, 7895 Jane St is an excellent choice.

    The Neighbourhood

Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is home to many of Vaughan’s newer condo buildings, centered around the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Subway Terminal. Development in the area has continued for a number of years and will likely continue as the area further develops. Fortunately for condo residents, there’s already a high concentration of shopping centres, restaurants, and entertainment attractions in the community.

Parents of young children will need to work on their excuses for why they cannot go to Canada’s Wonderland every weekend, because the theme park is just a 6 minute drive north on Jane Street. The community certainly caters to young children with countless recreation facilities, and unique attractions like LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and Koalakidz Indoor Playground. Parents will also find excellent schools littered throughout the community.

Vaughan Metropolitan Centre has something for the adults too: there are bar/restaurant hybrids like St. Louis Bar & Grill, and even Magnotta winery on the opposite side of the 400. Residents of the Met Condos can pick up an espresso at Balzac’s Coffee Roasters or Vibe Coffee and drive to Boyd Conservation Park for an immersive nature experience.

Any shopping needs are covered by the plethora of big box stores in the neighbourhood; SmartCentres Woodbridge is close by and houses a collection of clothing boutiques with many well known brands.

    Transportation

If there is one major drawback to living at 7895 Jane St it’s that the neighbourhood isn’t particularly friendly for walkers. Getting groceries or just picking up daily essentials will likely require a vehicle or public transit.

Residents of the Met Condos can catch a bus right outside of their building and quickly connect to alternate routes at Vaughan Metropolitan Bus Terminal. Likewise, those heading into Toronto can walk to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Subway Terminal in less than 10 minutes; it takes about 50 minutes to reach Union Station.

Drivers can arrive at the nearest on-ramp for Highway 400 in under 5 minutes. As well, there are on-ramps to both Highway 7 and the 407 nearby.

For Vaughan, this condo hits all the right notes. Close to Vaughan Mills, IKEA, transit and restaurants. There’s a real sense of community in the building

Moved into The Met last year and I’ve really enjoyed it so far. The finishes in the units are modern and the layout of my one bedroom is smart - no wasted space. Being close to the subway is a huge win, and the building has a good energy overall.

The location is great for commuters, but the elevators have been a recurring issue. My unit itself is nice and I like the amenities, but the constant wait times downstairs are frustrating. Hopefully management sorts that out.

Views are solid and the suite gets good light during the day. Not a fan of the neighbourhood still being under development though - lots of construction noise during the day.

Not bad overall, but I wish the walls were better insulated - can hear a lot more than I’d like from the unit next door. On the plus side there’s a decent gym and the TTC being right there makes life easier.

We found the Met to be a great first home. Our unit faces west so we get beautiful sunsets. Concierge is helpful and the lobby always looks well kept. No major complaints so far.

I bought here for investment purposes and it’s been so easy to rent out. The building appeals to students and professionals alike thanks to its proximity to the subway and York University. No trouble finding tenants at all!

Nice looking building, but not impressed with how long it takes to get things fixed. Had a plumbing issue that dragged out for WEEKS. Great location and amenities, but management needs to improve.

Numerous issues: no amenities, frequent disruptions from tests, poor management, noise problems, unreliable mail services. I can go on..

I've called this place home for five years now and have nothing but good things to say. Building is well maintained, neighbours are friendly, concierge looks after residents, and proximity is great. Amenities and visitor parking are also solid.
