    It’s not The Beaches — but if you close one eye and squint, you might not know the difference.

    Banded by Victoria Park Ave to the west and Brimley Rd S to the east, Birch Cliff and Cliffside is sprawling Scarborough neighbourhood on the shores of Lake Ontario. This neighbourhood is technically two separate areas, and while the living experience is similar, Cliffside has a bit of country feel and Birch Cliff is more residential.

    With a multitude of schools in the Catholic and public boards, ample green spaces, and a variety of recreation facilities, condos for sale in Cliffside or Birch Cliff are a great choice for families. Kingston Road runs through the middle of the neighbourhood and is host to restaurants, pubs, retail stores, and service based businesses.

    Condos for sale in Cliffside are an excellent choice for nature lovers, as there are great waterfront parks in the neighbourhood, with kilometres of walking trails. All told, there are a dozen buildings in the area, though most condos for sale are in Birch Cliff.

    The price per square foot is generally lower than in neighbourhoods to the west, which makes Cliffside condos for sale ideal for buyers on a tight budget; loft lovers can save some money with airy suites at Fallingbrook Lofts, which are generally more affordable than similar unit in downtown Toronto. Amenities are standard — townhouses offer very little, while condo residences provide the usual extras.

    Transportation

    Birch Cliff and Cliffside is a pedestrian friendly neighbourhood with reasonable public transit; there are bus routes but no subway stations, streetcars, or GO stations. One drawback to this area is that car owners have to weave their way through city traffic for the nearest highway. However, without much traffic — try not to laugh when you read that — drivers can reach downtown in roughly 20 minutes.
