Renting a home in Corso Italia | Davenport

You’ve probably heard this neighbourhood referred to as the ‘other Little Italy’, a name which originates from the large number of Italian immigrants who came to call this area home following World War II.

Today, Corso Italia and Davenport isn’t quite as Italian as it once was, and there are actually more Portuguese residents than Italian, but the neighbourhood has remained true to its roots; you’ll find many great Italian restaurants like La Bruschetta and Agio, and excellent spots for Gelato such as La Paloma Gelateria & Café. And as a bonus, thanks to the large Portuguese population, there are great local restaurants for Portuguese cuisine as well.

Corso Italia forms the northern portion of the neighbourhood, centered around St. Clair W, while Davenport is in the south and is centered around Davenport Rd. Residents have plenty of nightlife options, regardless of which area they call home; cozy hangouts like Cafe 512 Bar & Lounge can be found on St. Clair, and there are trendy pubs and microbreweries in the south — Blood Brothers Brewing, The Greater Good, and The Gem Bar & Grill, to name a few.

Condos for rent in Corso Italia and Davenport are sure to appeal to young professionals, but families will also see the value here; in addition to a number of respected schools, the neighbourhood has green spaces like Earlscourt Park, many of which have playgrounds and sports fields.

Condo Life in Corso Italia | Davenport

If you have your eye on this neighbourhood, you’ll find that all condos for rent are in Davenport. Buildings in this neighbourhood tend to be small and exclusive — Davenport Village III Condos is the largest property in the area, and it has just 84 units.

This neighbourhood is particularly good for those who love lofts — Foundry Lofts is a former train factory that has been converted into units, and within these stylish suites you’ll find exposed brick walls, ductwork, and soaring mezzanine areas. Or if you enjoy loft layouts but aren’t a fan of industrial features, Iron Works Lofts are basically luxurious condos with airy layouts.

Looking for Davenport condos for rent and on a tight budget? There are better neighbourhoods for that, but properties like 16 Foundry Condos are among the more affordable buildings in west end Toronto. In general, amenities are modest in this neighbourhood, which may be a disappointment for those who need to have a gym on-site.
